RACA’s largest annual event, FireFly Fling is an entertaining evening of food, music, and art. All proceeds from FireFly Fling further our mission of enriching the creative life of our community through the arts.

Join the Rome Area Council for the Arts as we celebrate 48 years of creating a better Rome and Floyd County through the unifying and compelling power of the arts.

The arts enliven, enrich and encompass all facets of life. Our event will showcase how vital the arts are to the fabric of our society, and how the gifts and talents of a caring community have fostered blank canvases of possibility into a vibrant center of creativity.

As a host for this year’s Firefly Fling, you will help ensure the Rome Area Council for the Arts can continue to provide advocacy and opportunity for all who are compelled by the power of the arts.

You’ve more than likely heard of the work the Rome Area Council for the Arts does to support Rome Little Theater, Rome Shakespeare Festival, Rome Symphony Orchestra, Rome International Film Festival and the like.

What you may not know is that these organizations make up less than 50% of the annual funding awarded each year by RACA to artists and organizations who are positively impacting the lives of our citizens through the power of the arts.

We have had the pleasure of ensuring Anna K. Davie Elementary School has an art program that serves every single student in the 2018-2019 school year. We provided access to Kindermusik at School for 24 three year olds at the South Rome Early Learning Center. We have sponsored an average of 70+ children each year from the Open Door Home, Boys and Girls Club, and various other organizations as they experience the magic of live theater with the Kids Night Out program. Our work with Destiny Independence, USA has sent children of all ages who live in severe poverty to the High Museum and Atlanta Ballet, giving them opportunities to engage with the arts in ways that might never have been possible. These are but a few examples of our grant recipients over the years.

The Rome Area Council for the Arts has faithfully and steadily provided support and advocacy for programs and initiatives like the above for over four decades in Rome and Floyd County. In 2018-2019 we awarded over $30,000 directly into our community and touched 20,249 lives.

We hope you will consider joining us for our celebration so we can continue this powerful and important work!
